cultural village

today is time to get know real African culture. we went already early on the way, driving easy and enjoying landscape. what a beautiful country and so green compared to South-Africa. mountains, valleys etc, roads much better condition ( but they were building new motorway, which made travelling slower) I thought that Nederlands loves those maded bumbs on the road... but hier it is extreme. it is not only one before crossroad, it is 3 before and 3 after. pffffff! we arrived to village just after morning danse has finished, around 12 o'clock. I knew it but thought to have relaxed time by waterfalls nearby. I tried to ask if it possible go with car or walking. they told that we could park by the village and walk further. beautiful walk! you could also leave car hier first parking in Mantenga cultural village and then it is 1km away. wel, we are not walking people so just with car further. Along the road signs of beware of crocodiles! first I thought they were joke, but later we so really one by waterfalls. hmmm.. and this is just normal to walk there. of course, we are in Africa. we got first tour of village. This is now as museum. they told how swazi family deal between women and men, how they build up these rondavels, most traditional habbits. very interesting. I'm also happy that Miska could follow most of stories guide told. Evelina not, so time to time I was tried to translate. interesting, very interesting. There is still few tribes, where they follow old traditions, but there's some modernisations taking place, like, when man want to get married, he has to pay for a girl. Earlier price was counted by cows ( virgin more expensive than already used one??). nowadays values are same, but they except also money. hahaha! finally 15 over 3 it was time for traditional danse performance. I have to say that I expected much more. they did do one type of danse only, even 5 different songs. About their flexibility we were stunnished in any case. Even little bit bigger woman through her leg over her head or men whose bodies were like rubber with perfect balance and rhytm. After spectacle we were ready to leave toward our second and last place to stay; Mlilwake nature park, only 14km away. before we stepped in car, there came groep of monkeys jumping around parkingplace. Evelina wanted so much touching one. please, do not, be careful, they can bite. they look sweet and youngters were so curious. I had to go to toilet and same moment I heard Evelina screaming. I knew that scream !!! oh my goosh! no no, don't let it happen. I saw one of male monkey attacking her , mouth open showing his teeth and running toward Evelina. I didn't know if he had got a grip already. I ran to her and picked her up...monkey didn't want to give up, but was following us until our car. there he turned away. I tried to get Evelina calm. Did he bite? checking her feet. no, happily not. wat a relief! don't forget, they have rabies hier. wel, she got her lesson. wild animals stays wild. respect them and they respect you!
